Use this when:

You and one or more teammates are ready to talk openly about a difficult situation.
You want a clear structure that keeps the conversation respectful and balanced.
You want to understand each other’s point of view without blaming or defending.

Estimated time: 20 to 30 minutes (whole team or only the people involved)

Set Shared Ground Rules

As a team, agree on a few ground rules so the conversation feels respectful and fair for everyone:

Ground rules:

One person speaks at a time.
Use 'I' statements, not blame.
Let each person finish before responding.
Focus on understanding first. Solve problems after that.

Instructions:

Read each ground rule out loud to the group.
Confirm that everyone agrees to follow them before you continue.
If the conversation becomes tense, pause and return to the ground rules.
Keep the focus on understanding first, then move to solutions.
